Item Arctic Remote Energy Network Academy III: Final Report(2025-05-12) Sustainable Development Working GroupThe Arctic Remote Energy Network Academy (ARENA) is a capacity building program aimed at providing energy champions from across the circumpolar North, with the skills, knowledge and networks required to develop remote energy projects in their own communities. ARENA III was built on the success of the first (2017) and second (2022/23) project iterations. ARENA III included on-site sessions in Alaska, United States; Nunavut and Nunavik, Canada; Greenland, Kingdom of Denmark; and Iceland allowing the cohort to explore the geographical, cultural, political, and remote energy landscapes in each location and to observe the integration of robust remote energy economies within Arctic countries. ARENA III directly supported two Sustainable Development Working Group Strategic Framework priorities, including educational opportunities, by building knowledge and skills surrounding the development and implementation of sustainable energy projects in remote Arctic communities while developing circumpolar networks of energy experts; and sustainable energy, by encouraging sustainable management, use, and development of energy resources in remote Arctic communities. By recruiting participants who live and work in the Arctic, ARENA III supported Arctic residents by encouraging local capacity building in the undertaking of resilient energy projects. The ARENA project supports activities in other working groups, including ACAP, AMAP, and CAFF.Item Sustainable Development Goals In The Arctic: The Nexus Between Water, Energy and Food Security(2025-05-12) Sustainable Development Working Group (SDWG)This research examined the nexus between Sustainable Development Goal 2 - Ending hunger and achieving Food security for all; Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of Water and sanitation for all; and Sustainable Development Goal 7 - Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern Energy for all. The research presented here is one of the first pan-Arctic Water, Energy, Food (WEF) nexus studies, and goes beyond the production knowledge towards concrete tools, giving both the Arctic Council and the SDWG an opportunity to be innovative in both respects. This study advances integrative thinking that reflects the interconnectedness within WEF systems in ways that will lead to the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Arctic and the development of a Post-2030 Development Agenda in the Arctic.Item Zero Arctic Fact Sheet(2020-12) SDWGItem Zero Arctic: Concepts for carbon-neutral Arctic construction based on tradition(SDWG, 2020-12) SDWG
