It is based on the Meaningful Engagement of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Marine Activities (MEMA) Part II Report by the Protection of Arctic Marine Environment (PAME) Working Group. A database has been compiled with hundreds of documents and individual recommendations, declarations, and requirements. A preliminary analysis has been conducted on these documents to ascertain the current practices, requirements and guidance. A narrative summary of the obligations for engagement and common practices has been drafted. Two workshops have also been held in support of the project.
