    Abstract
    A considerable part of the brochure is dedicated to the forecast, prevention and mitigation of nuclear / radiological emergencies. It is of importance that the population is aware of whom is responsible for public protection; what public information channels and types of emergency protective actions can be; as well as to what extent these or those exposure doses are dangerous. The brochure addresses specialists of the legislative / executive authorities and those of Murmansk / Arkhangelsk regional government; activists of public environmental movements; and teachers and students of higher education institutes, as well as the general public interested in the issues of stable development of the Russian North.
