This report discusses best practices of BC emission reductions from diesel sources in the Arctic Council national. Policies aimed at reducing diesel BC emissions in the Arctic Council Countries like emission standards for on-road vehicles have had a prominent effect on the Arctic. Additional efforts are needed to further decrease BC emissions from diesel sources in the Arctic. Reducing BC emissions in the Arctic would help to slow global climate changes.en_US
Reducing BC emission requires the active involvement of policy makers at both the national and regional levels. National level agencies set minimum emissions standards for vehicles and quality standards for fuel; they also define targets and develop other national, supportive policies. Local-level authorities, in contrast, typically implement individual programs based on local needs and emission reduction targets.en_US
