| dc.description.abstract | The tactical exercise (TE) “Arctic 2012” was conducted on 19-21 June, 2012, at the site of the Saida Bay branch of the Northwest Center on radioactive waste management “SevRAO" (NWC “SevRAO”). The exercise was carried out under the Arctic Council’s Emergency Prevention Preparedness and Response Working Group and in the framework of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the United States of America on "Cooperation in Research on Radiation Effects for the Purpose of Minimizing the Consequences of Radioactive Contamination on Health and Environment", signed on 14 January, 1994. The Saida Bay facility of NWC “SevRAO” was selected as a venue for the “Arctic-2012” exercise under agreement of all interested parties. The facility provides storage and maintenance of single-compartment units of reactor compartments (RC) from decommissioned nuclear submarines to ensure (natural) reduction of induced activity to a level that allows their subsequent dismantling at minimum costs, as well as storage and maintenance of floating multi-compartment reactor units. | en_US |
