Abstract
The Tundra Reindeer Farm Project and the recently completed installations at the Karelia Valday Cluster of projects are the first black carbon mitigation projects to have been proposed and implemented through the Arctic Council Project Support Instrument (PSI). These projects are intended to demonstrate the viability of renewable energy sources in the arctic as well as highlight the health, environmental and long-term economic benefits associated with a shift to renewables. The Tundra project provides Arctic Council Member States and Permanent Participants with a unique and valuable experience in implementing black carbon mitigation projects in the remote areas of the Arctic.
